Beautiful Opal Shield Ring
I found it to be well made, sterling silver band tapers in the back for wearing comfort. The blue opals are firey, and bezel set. It’s a very comfortable ring to wear. My only concern is that I read some reviews that said that they had stones fall out, if that happens to mine, I will immediately update my review

Most unique style ring Iâve seen in a long time.
I donât very often treat myself but this time I did and I sure am glad itâs mine!
Itâs not a very thick ring. The sides and bottom sterling silver are on the thin side but thatâs ok. The bottom width tapers, but is wide enough for balance. Wouldnât want it thinner at all. Wouldnât change a thing about this piece.
The ring goes on smooth and allows plenty of finger movement. The widest and most low profile ring I have ever owned. Not something that typically catches my eye but itâs just perfect for this design, and I love it.
Glad to be able to show support to the artist / designer too.

If you are a fellow opal lover, THIS ring is for you!!
I wear my jewelry including my rings 24/7 365. With exception of one of my two freshwater pearl JR rings. Nor am I exactly easy on my rings/hands.
I wear rings on all of my fingers. 7 out of 10 are Jean Rachel rings. (If I could, I’d wear ONLY JR rings and jewelry, but I have an issue with severe swelling of my hands. Thus needing larger sizes).
I wanted this ring specifically for a thumb ring, as well as to add some color, as I have the other JR shield ring with CZ’s, on my opposite thumb.
Fits beautifully! But all Jean Rachel rings do. This ring looks DYNAMITE as a thumb ring!!
No issues with the opals.
They are extremely well set.

ðOn the note of Opals and for my fellow all things opal lovers, it is extremely important to add that these aren’t Ethiopian opals. I’d highly advise against purchasing any piece of jewelry made with Ethiopian opals. While all opals are made of thin layers, Ethiopian opals are made from a paper like material. Should you get a piece of jewelry made with them wet, they will swell up and when they’ve dried, turn a yucky yellow color. I’ve experienced this myself prior to knowing what Ethiopian opals are or how they’re made. Super upsetting putting it mildly.
I love the weight, fit and feel of this ring. It’s even more beautiful in person!
I don’t clean my rings too often. When I do and specifically for opals in this case, I use warm water, Dawn Dish soap and a babies toothbrush. Although all of my Jean Rachel rings I’ve purchased over the years look as beautiful as the day I first received them.
Dawn dish soap does a fantastic job of cleaning the silver and any stones and opals.
I receive compliments from strangers literally everywhere I go regarding my rings. I’ve lost count how many I’ve received in the past month give or take how unique and eye catching this ring is.
As a long-term regular customer of Jean Rachel, I can not recommend them and this ring highly enough!

I have been a long time customer of Jean Rachel. Every single piece I’ve purchased is absolutely delightful!!
Sometime in early 2019, I contacted J Rachel about this ring, and if they could somehow make it one size larger for me. (Into a size 12 which they couldn’t. )
I love shield rings and fell head over heels when I first seen this one. As it is, I’m kicking my butt for missing out on a ring I planned to purchase from their recent Summer Collection that’s no longer available. I will literally never forgive myself!!
This design resembles peeled back skin with beautiful diamonds (CZ’s) beneath. Reminding me that regardless of aging, medical issues, self confidence or lack thereof etc, that under my skin I am beautiful. At least that is how I interpret the design, as have many other people who’ve stopped me to take a better look admiring it. I am an all things nature related nut, and my jewelry has to be whimsical, bold, unique and nature themed.
All of Jean Rachel’s designs check these categories and more.
The thing with J Rachel jewelry, is once you see how beautifully crafted each piece is, as well as excellent value for money, you are destined to purchase more pieces.
Due to some medical issues, I have hands including my knuckles, that swell up to the point that none of my other fine gold or silver jewelry fits me anymore. Normally my middle finger would be a size 7.5. Now, its a size 11-12. Needless to say, finding women’s rings in sizes this large is almost impossible. Then add the type of designs I love,,double impossible.
So when I first came across J Rachel, I was over the moon that they offered larger sizes. Not just that, but also unbelievably comfortable, top notch quality jewelry that feels like it was made just for me. All of my other J Rachel rings slid on my fingers like butter.
I have wanted this ring for a very, very long time. But being it is a shield style ring, I knew not to even bother because with shield rings, you always have to go one to two sizes up.
While recently looking for a ring for my pinky finger, of course J Rachel rings kept popping up in my recommends. Specifically this one. It’d been awhile since I checked out what J Rachel had in stock so I figured I’d check. Naturally I couldn’t help but look at this ring again just to admire it.
It was then that I noticed that the shank of this ring is actually slimmed/tapered down, instead of being a full shield ring, having the thick band of gold or silver wrapping around the entire finger! Meaning that this beautiful ring might just fit on my middle finger. And it does!! Now granted, I had difficulty getting it over my knuckle, and it won’t be coming off of that finger anytime soon. Which is fine with me!
I wear all of my rings 24/7 365, so while I’d have preferred this on my index finger, it looks gorgeous right where it is.
The nice thing about J Rachel rings is that they are somewhat malable. So their rings just get more and more comfortable to wear, without any worry of the ring breaking. This ring has now adjusted itself to my finger size and shape. It’s so comfortable that I barely feel like I’m wearing anything at all.
As just mentioned, I wear all of my jewelry 24/7 365 (with exception of my pearls), including the rings that I have on every single one of my fingers. Although I own more, I’ve been wearing 3 of my J Rachel rings basically permanently, for a few years now. Other than giving them an occasional cleaning, they look as gorgeous as the day I received them. And I’m not exactly easy on my rings..
I am SO happy I finally noticed the tapered shank and bought this beauty! No photos can do it the justice it deserves!
I’ve received endless compliments everywhere I go. I’ve literally lost count of the compliments received.
I also ADORE how J Rachel packages their jewelry and rings!! It’s nothing short of being full on luxurious. I never get tired of the experience..
You’ll receive your item in a black bubble wrap envelope. You then pull out luxurious white tissue paper with a black monogrammed sticker of J Rachel’s logo. As you keep peeling the layers, you’ll find a grey monogrammed faux velvet jewelry bag, a thank you card with a discount code, a beautifully J Rachel monogrammed silver cleaning cloth, and then the piece of jewelry in a tiny protective bag. It is the perfect self care or gifting experience!!
Which brings me to my many different exchanges with J Rachel in the messaging department, I’ve had over the years.
They are a genuine delight to converse with! Be it a question one may have, to concerns you may have about a piece you purchased, they will always go above and beyond to help. This company genuinely cares about the items they sell, as well as customer satisfaction. There’s been times I’ve reached out to them to see how they are doing, or thanking them again for such a beautiful ring.
This means alot to me, plus I know that I can always rely on their products as well as them. Jean Rachel simply cannot be beat! That is why I continue to support and purchase from Jean Rachel.
Another thing, the prices are always more than fair. This ring is definitely worth every penny.
Unfortunately I forgot to take photos of how this ring arrived in its beautifully wrapped tissue paper, to what this ring looked like before I put it on. I’d just finished bathing my dogs, and didn’t think to shine this ring back up for my photos.
The two photos I included are with my flash on and off. That said, my photos don’t show just how gorgeous and unique this ring is!
I know this is a long read, but I truly can not sing my praises loud enough for Jean Rachel, and their jewelry ALWAYS being a unique, top notch quality, craftsmanship, gorgeous piece of art.
For gifting purposes, you cannot go wrong buying a J Rachel piece. I am an extremely picky woman especially when it comes to my jewelry. So if you are shopping for the hard to gift type person, you’ve just hit the treasure trove!

Just a short update. I ended up moving this ring to my thumb. And let me tell you, not only does it fit well, it looks DYNAMITE as a shield thumb ring!!
I’ve already received countless compliments from strangers about this ring, but since moving it to my thumb, the compliments have been literally never ending.
Also regardless of which finger you wear this ring on, I haven’t had any issues with the stones catching on anything. I love this ring so much, that I am seriously considering purchasing another one to wear on my other thumb. I recently purchased the matching pendant, and serious omg!ð
